AFGHANISTAN WON BY 95 RUNS Nepal: 129 all out off 40 overs (G.Malla 30, S.Vesawkar 35) Man of the Match: Raees Ahmadzai (Afghanistan) |
|
Afghanistan's bowlers and fielders all contributed to the victory, rescuing their team after Nepal's bowlers themselves had done so well in the morning. Raees Ahmadzai says Afghanistan's coach Kabir Khan stood over the team at lunch and told them not to eat too much, and that may have had an effect on their hunger for victory, for glory, for vindication, for proof of their excellence, for their winning of their nation's first ACC Trophy. Afghanistan are now ACC Twenty20 Champions along with the ACC Trophy Elite. It's the ICC World Twenty20 for them next, just three and a half weeks from now and we'll all be following them there. Thanks for logging on, your passion and enthusiasm for the game humble us, as does the excellence of the cricketers we see. Until next time, this is the ACC signing from Kuwait. |

A real ding-dong contest that, the match swinging one way and then another. Nepal bowled and fielded very well and Afghnaistan really had to work hard for their runs. Karim Sadiq held the innings together early on and his partnership with Mirwais Ashraf (59) for the 4th wicket brought the Afghan innings back on track. Raees Ahmadzai and Mohammad Nabi then put on 97 in 103 balls for the seventh wicket but they fell just as Afganistan werer looking for a final charge. 224 is a little under par on this wicket, Nepal have to be fancied at this stage but of course there are a number of potent Afghan bowlers who will have to be taken on. | |
