Kuwait start the 2006 ACC Trophy carrying the mantle of much expectation. Third-place in the 2004 ACC Trophy heralded a standard of play that went a long way in getting them ICC Associate status.

The team that come to Malaysia this year have a significant number of new faces and it is hoped that their talents and enthusiasm will bring out the best in the seniors. Led by veteran Mustansar Hassan, the team are a little stronger in batting than bowling but as long as they are able to contain the opposition, they are in with a good chance of being at the business end of the tournament. The coaching and support staff are amongst the canniest in the tournament.

The last group match with Hong Kong will be critical in determining who will qualify for the quarter-finals with Nepal.
