Bhutan v Hong Kong at The Royal Selangor Club
HONG KONG WON BY NINE WICKETS
Bhutan have come a long way since their last ACC Trophy but were
still no match for Hong Kong, who beat them by nine wickets at the
Royal Military College grounds.
Bhutan have a couple of batsmen who really know how to play and
they, Tashi and Manoj Adhikari unleashed a couple of drives that
had connoisseurs purring. In fact, the whole team showed enough gumption
to suggest that given more time to develop, they could offer Hong
Kong a better fight in the years ahead.
As it was it took a seriously sharp short-of-a-length spell of bowling
from Hussain Butt to dislodge opener Tashi and rip through the middle-order.
Pace and bounce are just not what the Bhutanese encounter in their
domestic training and it showed here today.
Irfan Ahmed played a careless shot to get out for 15 as Hong Kong
set about making the necessary 78 to win.
