KUWAIT HIT THE GAS AGAINST BHUTAN

Bhutan v Kuwait at Selangor Turf Club

KUWAIT WON BY 291 RUNS

Kuwait’s batsmen helped their team record a 291-run victory against Bhutan to keep them in the hunt for a quarter-final place in the ACC Trophy.

Kashif Butt hits out against Jigme Singye

Put into bat by Bhutan, Kuwait were aggressive from the start and all the batsmen cashed in against some persevering bowling. The Bhutanese ground fielding remained alert and they took almost all of the chances on offer but on a belter of a wicket at the Selangor Turf Club, they could not contain the Kuwaiti batsmen.

The batsmen planted their feet, swung their arms and cashed in. Runs came in boundaries (48 of Nadeem Malik’s 55, 104 of Saud Qamar’s 122) as 64 fours and 9 sixes were smashed around the park.

In between the boundaries, the Bhutanese bowlers kept the batsmen honest but there were always enough four-ball opportunities to keep the Kuwait gushers primed.

Going into bat, Bhutan’s main objective was to bat out 50 overs in order to achieve a victory of sorts, they came close but a couple of sharp pieces of work by Jagath Roshantha behind the stumps at the tail end of the innings saw Bhutan all out for 160 at the start of the 47th over.
