Bhutan v Nepal at Royal Selangor Club
NEPAL WON BY 281 RUNS
Nepal made short work of Bhutan to win by 281 runs at The Royal Selangor Club. They now head Group C.
Nepal, oozing with confidence following their successful run-chase against Kuwait, were delighted to find themselves batting. Strokeplayers all, they quickly found themselves in the groove and though three quick-wickets fell at the top of the order, to leave leg-spinner Phuntsho Wangdi on a hat-trick in his second over, the rest of the batsmen asserted themselves, choosing just the right balls to hit all over the park. Wides there were too many, but such was the excellence of the ground-fielding by Bhutan, Nepal were deprived of at least twenty more runs.
Nepal hit a hundred runs in the last ten overs to lift their score from substantial to colossal.
Bhutan will be disappointed with only making 36 but such is the accuracy and penetration of the Nepal new ball bowlers Alam and Das, coupled with cloud cover and helpful pitches, that Bhutan can’t be too embarrassed.
