THAILAND WIN SERENELY
Iran v Thailand at Royal Military College
THAILAND WON BY NINE WICKETS
Thailand found victory more easily than even they expected, as they
won by nine-wickets against Iran at the Royal Military College Grounds.
Batting first, Iran were in early trouble but an 86-run stand for
the third wicket between Atnan Hosseinzehi and captain Nareman Bakhtiar
in 29 overs righted the ship. Hosseinzehi held down one end to allow
his captain to bat with freedom and Bakhtiar took advantage of some
sloppy fielding to race to 50. He hit four 4s and three 6s before
getting out rather softly to a mistimed-pull to mid-on.
Once he was out, the rest of the innings fell away and a late flurry
of wickets didn’t allow Iran to capitalise.
152 shouldn’t have been testing and coupled with some wayward
bowling and shoddy ground-fielding it wasn’t. Thailand reached
their target with over 15 overs to spare.
