KUWAIT SHOW DEBUTANTS MYANMAR NO MERCY

Kuwait v Myanmar at Kinrara
KUWAIT WON BY NINE WICKETS
Myanmar’s first international cricket match saw them go down
by 9 wickets to Kuwait at the Kinrara Oval.
The game was less of a mismatch than the score suggests for Maynamar
in batting first against a hostile Kuwait attack, played through
the 45-over innings, in a rain-affected match.
Myanmar showed correct technique and no little application, particularly
from the middle-order in blunting the Kuwaiti pacemen and deflecting
the spinners. They showed they have the appetite for the game and
as their coach Najmul Abedeen said afterwards, “the good thing
about the Myanmar team is that they’re learning every day.
They’re on an upward graph.”
Hisham Mirza was the pack of the Kuwaiti bowlers
as he bowled a hostile and penetrating line and beat the batsmen
for pace.
133 was a creditable score but when you’re in the vengeful
mood that Kuwait, keen to bounce back from defeat against Nepal,
are in then you’re going to want to ease the pain the only
way you know how and that is by smashing boundaries.
Myanmar’s bowling still has some way to develop in comparison
to their batting but three dropped chances didn’t help. Kashif
Bashar made 60 in a manner which suggested that he doesn’t
like running too much, sealing the match with a six that soared over
long-on.
