ACC U-15 Elite Cup 2007

Message from the Asian Cricket Council Development Manager

The last time I was in Kathmandu for an ACC tournament there were 15000 spectators at Tribhuvan for the final of the 2005 U-19 Cup, as well as national live television broadcasts of both semi-final and final.

Nepal were in the final and there is every chance that they will be there again. They have a strong team, an excellent coach and a passionate fan base. As Nepal’s fans acquire more understanding of the game, as their cricketers develop even further and their administrators dedicate themselves to improving local playing conditions then matches other than finals will also be followed in such a way. Cricket has a lot to offer Nepal, in turn Nepal must manage its cricket properly in order to maximize its current opportunities.

Thanks to the ACC’s Development Program other countries are coming up to challenge Nepal’s supremacy in age-group competitions. And that is how it should be. I expect there will be some very close matches in this U-15 Elite Cup.

I wish all competitors the very best and hope that they take from this tournament many worthwhile memories and new friendships.

May God be with you all.
