ASIA’S TRIPLE TRIUMPH
Asia scooped three of the nine 2005 ICC Development Program Awards
with the Chinese Cricket Association, Phuket Cricket Union and Dr,
Harjit Singh of Johor, Malaysia being recognised.

The global winners were selected by Ehsan Mani (ICC President), Malcolm Gray
(past ICC President), Dr Ali Bacher (ICC Cricket World Cup 2003 Executive Director)
and Roger Knight (MCC Chief Executive and Secretary).
“This whole process has once again shown the outstanding work being done
in the development of cricket around the world,” said Mr. Mani. “It
was immensely difficult to select the winners but those lucky enough to have
been chosen reflect the contributions they have made to our wonderful worldwide
sport. Everyone involved, winners and those not chosen, deserve immense credit
for their efforts,” he added.
Dr. Harjit Singh speaking from Johor said, “I am honoured to have this
award bestowed upon me. Much credit is due to the Johor State Government, the
National Sports Council of Malaysia, all my colleagues at the Johor Cricket
Council and sponsors who have always supported me in my endeavours. I feel
I have achieved only 60% of my ambitions and this award will be a terrific
help in drawing more attention to the cause of developing cricket in Malaysia.
I am truly grateful to the ACC and ICC for recognising me.”
