BHUTAN BEAT MYANMAR
Bhutan's bowlers took them to a seven-wicket victory over Myanmar, a victory which their batsmen did much to take off the shine from.
Put in to bat Myanmar struggled initially against the tall Dorji Wangchuck who bowled his right-arm seam with considerable pace from the Nong Hoi end at Chiang Mai Gymkhana. There was zip in the wicket all day, with a little more pace in it compared to the opening day of the tournament.

Bhutan's Jigme Singye takes another wicket and
a Myanmar batsman departs |
Bouncy Dilip Subba bowled well from the Clubhouse end, getting his outswinger working at times. Myanmar's captain Myat Min Hein and opener Min Wai steadied the ship for a while but as soon the spinners came on Myanmar were back in trouble. Jigme Singye bowled Min Wai (5 off 38 balls) with his fifth delivery and made his leg-breaks turn considerably throughout his eight-over spell. With his top-spinners also fizzing through he was a real handful for the Myanmar batsmen.
It was a battle between extras and the batsmen to see who would contribute the most runs. Extras won, with 26, as Myanmar were all out for 50 in the 30th over.

Bhutan's Tapas Barialy |
Myanmar started off as if they meant to finish the game in ten minutes. The openers Susil Sharma and Tapas Barialy swung freely but Myanmar are a pretty good bowling side. Had they held both chances offered early on, Bhutan would have been under pressure. Tapas was pinged on the head by Yang Naing and throughout Myanmar's bowlers kept at Bhutan's batsmen.

Bhutan's captain Jigme Singye came in and was a class apart. One on-drive struck all along the ground went through to the 8 th hole- fairway behind the ground. Offered a scholarship by Chiang Mai's Prem Tinsulanonda school on the basis of his performances in last year's ACC U-15 Challenge Cup, Jigme Singye is a major talent.

"Myanmar are good bowlers but we should have won by ten wickets," said Bhutan's coach Damber Singh Gurung. Bhutan won't bat as badly as this again. Jigme Singye will certainly bat just as well.
