Group C: Hong Kong v Saudi Arabia at Tudhikel

Hong Kong stormed to a convincing victory over Saudi Arabia, winning by 92 runs, to move through to the quarter-final stage.

James Atkinson made 33 to give Hong Kong a boost at the start and once he was dismissed Irfan Ahmed gave substance to the innings. 173 was a competitive total but Saudi Arabia had enough hard-hitting batsmen to seriously challenge for victory.

Hong Kong’s bowlers are a pretty formidable bunch however and only one of the Saudi batsmen, Hassan Malik, was able to get past 10. Irafan Ahmed took 4-12 to secure the Man of the Match award.

Hong Kong now play Kuwait in the quarter-final and their bowlers against Kuwait’s batsmen should be a fascinating contest.
