INDIA DONATES EQUIPMENT TO CHINA

71 boxes of cricket equipment valued at over 2 million INR (US$42,000) have arrived in Beijing after a long journey from the BCCI. Bats, balls, gloves, pads, stumps, protective gear have been received by the Chinese Cricket Association “like the coal in winter”, says Deputy Secretary General Zhang Tian, such has been the shortage of materials as the game is taken up by more and more people across China.

The equipment will be used for national and regional men’s and women’s teams and across cricket-playing schools. “It is a terrific support by India,” says ACC Development Officer for China Aminul Islam, “and it will go a long way in advancing the training of more players.”

The BCCI donation follows one made by the PCB two years ago.
