Bahrain are making a comeback on the international stage after a period out of ACC competition in 2007-2008 while internal administrative affairs were being settled. Prior to their absence Bahrain were in the Elite division of every ACC competition and there are signs that cricket is enjoying a renaissance, with news of a new national academy being built in Manama and the U-19 team winning the ACC Trophy Challenge in December 2009. Bahrain’s debut in the ICC World Cricket League in 2009 started with them winning Division 7, becoming runners-up in Division 6 and then finishing third in Division 5. The U-19 team winning the ACC Trophy Challenge in December 2009.

Assuming all the elements in Bahrain coalesce and their potential is realised, the senior team could mount a serious challenge to the top teams in Asia. There was a 30% increase in playing numbers in 2010 with a new T20 Divisional tournament established during the year. Women’s domestic cricket has started.

"Bahrain is one of those countries that could go a long way in relation to its size, compared to its neighbours," says ACC Development Officer Rumesh Ratnayake.

Bahrain finished third at Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 5 2010 in Nepal Bahrain squad, 2010 ACC U-16 Elite Cup Winners, 2009 ACC U-19 Challenge
