Celebrating success at the ICC World Twenty20 in Chittagong

Eleven teams take part in the thirteenth National Cricket Tournament in Nepal this month, the established 50-over competition in Nepal. The squad for the ACC Premier League which starts on May 1 in Malaysia will be selected based on performances in the event. There will be a one-week camp after the event prior to the national team leaving for Kuala Lumpur.

The nine cricket regions of Nepal –Baitadi, Biratnagar (previous winners), Birgung, Bhairawa (previous winners), Janakpur, Kathmandu (previous winners), Kanchanpur, Nepalgunj, Pokhara – and two combined teams - Armed Police Force (defending champions), Tribhuvan Army Club - will play in two groups in Kathmandu and Pokhara, with the semi-finals and Final being held in Kathmandu.

This Pepsi Standard Chartered National Cricket Tournament marks the start of a busy domestic season for Nepal before the monsoons arrive. h A two-day tournament in Dhangadhi will also take place in April, followed by a 50-over league in Biratnagar and Rajbiraj before concluding with a Twenty20 tournament, the six-team NCell National Premier League, in Kathmandu in late May.

Cricket Association of Nepal General Secretary Ashok Nath Pyakuryal says that CAN will also hold a two-day event, The Prime Minister’s Cup, from 2015.
