Training sessions for a new generation of cricketers in Oman have started. The sessions are being held once a week for children between the ages of 6 to 13. 36 children were at the first camp and many more are in the wings on a waiting list to take part.

“It’s good to see Oman Cricket make these kinds of linkages,” says ACC Development Officer for Oman Iqbal Sikander, “this is the age to start in cricket and one hopes that these children and their parents who are enjoying cricket so much will keep on playing in Oman as they get older.” These grassroots development camps are taking place at the Ras Al Hamra Recreation Club on the Muscat shorefront and are being conducted by ACC accredited Level II coaches - former national players Vaishali Jesrani and Nilesh Parmar, and Desmond Berhardt.
