INDIA’S MABEN IN CHINA

China’s new national women’s coach Mamatha Maben started her assignment in China this week with sessions in Shenzhen for the senior team. Her services have been provided by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

“It’s just been four sessions with them so far, but from what I have seen the girls have a good grasp of cricket and are showing a little potential, “ said Ms. Maben, a former India international.

Sessions have been on batting and fielding so far, Ms. Maben next travels to Chengdu on a talent search for the Chinese Cricket Association. China will have men’s and women’s teams at the Asian Games in Guangzhou in November 2010.

“It has taken longer than expected to get here but now I’ve arrived and can carry on the work started by Rashid and Aminul to get China’s girls playing better cricket,” said the new coach.
