Group A: Bahrain v Brunei at Engineering Campus Ground

Bahrain on the way to victory

Bahrain blitzed their way to a colossal victory by 349 runs against Brunei in the final Group A Match to secure their place in the quarter-finals.

Gayan de Silva took two runs off the final delivery of the Bahrain innings to register a remarkable double-hundred. He made his runs off just 140 deliveries. He was ably supported by Danish Jasnaik who made an impressive century off just 77 deliveries. Together they shared a stand of 232 runs not out for the fifth wicket.

In reply to Bahrain’s 383, Brunei could only manage 34. Salman Sattar ripped through the lineup, bowling unchanged to record figures of 9.2-4-15-8.

Gayan de Silva took the other wicket, as well as affecting a run-out.

The quarter-final between Qatar and Bahrain should be excellent.
