Meanwhile preparations for the tournament have moved into top gear at Dubai Sports City’s ICC Academy facility. A total of four teams trained on Wednesday. Interviews of Sri Lanka player Dhananjaya de Silva, Bangladesh player Tamim Iqbal, Pakistan player Faheem Ashraf and Hong Kong player Aizaz Khan are included in the release below.

Aizaz Khan, Hong Kong All-rounder
Looking ahead to Asia Cup: "We recently qualified (for Asia Cup) and it is a great feeling. Everyone is happy and we did really well over the last two weeks to qualify. Our team is very excited for the games against India and Pakistan. They are the big teams, but we are here to compete so we are really excited.

"We have been training hard we have  got a very balanced side, we have got some good batsmen  and we have a good bowling line-up as well, so I think we will do well. We have played quite a lot in the UAE actually, so we quite familiar with the pitches."

Playing against cricketing idol: I follow Mohammed Amir quite a lot and it is my first time playing against him. I am really excited, it is a great feeling to play with your hero. I never thought I would play against him.

On pulling of an upset: Everyone is really excited. They are all focused as well, so we know we are playing against some big teams so we just plan to go out there and enjoy the game. This is cricket, we are here to compete and hopefully we do well and there might be an upset.

Faheem Ahshraf, Pakistan Bowling All-rounder
Playing against India: We are working really hard to try and adapt to local conditions. Every player on the team dreams of playing against India and performing well, I hope I can also get this chance. India even without Virat Kohli is a world-class team and we cannot take them lightly. We are putting in our hundred percent, in all departments be it batting, bowling or fielding. Our job is to give our best and then we have every chance of winning.

On home advantage in UAE: We play all our series here so it is an advantage for us, but this is a big event, and there is a lot of pressure and we will give our hundred percent to all matches.

Dhananjaya de Silva, Sri Lanka All-rounder
Asia Cup Plan: My coaches and my staff are saying I have to bowl a few overs and bat through the innings so I have to prepare for that. We have to go game by game and we have plans that we have to execute to be successful.

Tamim Iqbal, Bangladesh Opening Batsman
Looking ahead to Asia Cup: I have a little experience playing in Dubai because of the Pakistan Super League, I think the wicket here isn’t the same, sometimes it is a really good batting wicket and sometimes it helps the seamers and spinners. We have to see what kind of wicket we get, but playing in Dubai is always fun and we are looking forward to playing on the fifteenth and having a good game.
