Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India and Pakistan, will begin their Super 4 campaign tomorrow, with India playing Bangladesh at the Dubai International stadium, while Pakistan take on Afghanistan at Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Cricket Stadium.
Each team plays the other three teams once in the Super 4 stage. The two teams with the most number of wins advance to the final, scheduled for 28 September. In case of a tie, Net Run Rate comes into play, in case the NRR is equal, then the team that has won the head to head advances, and finally if two teams are tied on all these counts, then a draw of lots is used to break the tie.
Top quality cricket has been on display in the Unimoni Asia Cup 2018 so far, the India-Pakistan match on Wednesday was a sell-out with supporters from both sides creating an electrifying atmosphere in Dubai Sports City’s Dubai International Stadium.
Emirates Cricket Board General Secretary Mubashshir Usmani said “The Emirates Cricket Board is very pleased with the way the tournament has panned out so far here in the UAE. We were certain the cricket matches between Asia’s top nations would draw in sports fans from across the UAE, and the quality of cricket too has been extraordinary. Looking ahead we hope our cricket and sports audiences will come and support this event in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Tickets for the Super 4 matches are still available online and at UAE exchange retail outlets, and we hope to see all the matches sold out.”
Another India Pakistan encounter is scheduled for 23 September in Dubai, while the in-form teams Afghanistan and Bangladesh play on the same day in Abu Dhabi.
