Day 4: Hong Kong v UAE at Tribhuvan University: HONG KONG HIT A HIGH


  • ACC Twenty20 Cup Hong Kong vs UAE at TU Ground: UAE won the toss and elected to bat first.
  • Aizaz Khan bowls good first over giving away only 3 runs. Faizan Asif and Amjad Ali opened for UAE. UAE 3/0 in 1 over.
  • Experienced Munir Dar gives away only 2 runs as UAE ends second over at 5/0. This is important match for Hong Kong in Group B where UAE leads with 2 wins, Nepal has 2 wins, Hong and Kuwait with one win each.
  • SIX & FOURS, Amjad Ali flicks Aizaz Khan at the fine leg boundary; hits a straight four and then nicks another four at third man. UAE 19/0 in 3 overs.
  • WICKET, Asif is gone. cuts Munir Dar but could not keep it low and comfortably caught at point. Asif had given good starts to UAE in earlier matches.
  • Munir Dar is keeping it tight. UAE 21/1 in 4 overs.

  • Amjad Ali nears half-century. He is now at 47 not out and going good. Sweeps Roy Lamsam for a four. UAE 58/2 in 10 overs.
  • WICKET, Shaiman, who was top-scorer in Nepal's win, is bowled by Nizakat Khan. Shaiman tries to play a late cut and could not connect.
  • Khurram Khan cuts Nizakat to four through diving point and slices another though gully for consecutive boundaries. UAE 68/2 in 11 overs.
  • Roy Lamsam goes for 9 runs in the over as UAE finishes at 77/2 in 12 overs. Amjad Ali needs a run to complete his second half-century in Twenty20 career.
  • Congratulations to Amjad Ali who scores his second career fifty in T20 and received huge applause from the players and spectators.

  • SIX, Amjad Ali takes a step ahead and hits six to Munir Dar at long-on to become the tournament's highest scorer so far. Karim Sadiq has scored 72 in other match at the Engineering Ground against Bhutan today. He ends up at 79 not out - carrying the bat through the innings.
  • UAE ends the innings at 144/4 in 20 overs. It's a good total at the ground despite the wicket being flat than normal. Hong Kong could fancy a chance if they get someone who can bat like Amjad Ali and/or a few getting big shots.

  • WICKET, Hayat is out on 29 as Ahmed Raza gives the breakthrough in the first over after the end of powerplay overs. Thin edge to keeper. Hong Kong 67/1 in 7 overs.
  • DROPPED, Jamie Atkinson was dropped at square leg boundary. Nothing is going right for them. The ball was on the fielder's hand, a straight forward catch, but dropped. Hong Kong 76/1 in 8 overs. Target 145.
  • Oh my god... what's happening to UAE. They are seeping boundaries and now the wicketkeeper Abdul Rehman misses to collect a ball for an easy stumping to Irfan Ahmed, who has reached 48 now.
  • Wow! Wow! I am all praise to Irfan Ahmed who completes a half-century with a clean six to Khurram Khan at the mid-wicket. Well played Irfan Ahmed. He ends the over with another clean hit for six on the long-on. Hong Kong 95/1 in 9 overs, Irfan Ahmed not out on 60.
  • 100 up for Hong Kong in 10 overs, they are batting brilliantly and it looks like UAe has no chance now. Can they conjure some magic here. Target 145.

  • Finally, something for UAE. WICKET, Jamie Atkinson goes after making 8 runs. Gives an easy catch to short fine leg fielder off Rohan Mustafa. Irfan Ahmed is not out on 68.
  • Hong Kong 113/2 in 13 overs. Requires another 32 runs in 7 overs for victory.
  • WICKET, Although it seems the match has slipped away from UAE, they can breath a relief now as Irfan Ahmed is gone after making 70. Tries a big shot at mid-wicket and Ahmed Javed takes a very good running catch to give Mustafa his second wicket. Brilliant catch. Hong Kong 119/3 in 14 overs. Target 145.
  • WICKET, Nizakat Khan is taken at short thirdman by Javed, second catch for him and first wicket for Ahmed Raza. Top edge on an attempt to hit on on side.
  • SIX by Kruger off Raza, a little bit short and pulled for a six. Hong Kong 128/4 in 15 overs. Target 145.
  • STUNNER, absolute stunner. Ahmed Raza takes a great catch, full length dive on this right to catch the ball travelling like bullet. Kruger's wicket wicket goes for Khurram Khan. Hong Kong 131/5 in 16 overs. Target 145.
  • WICKET, Barkat is caught at long-on boundary by Faizan Asif. Raza gets a deserving wicket. Is UAE staging a brilliant comeback here?
  • Hong Kong 133/6 in 17 overs. Requires 12 runs off 18 balls for the win. Target 145.
  • SIX, and it's a tie. Roy Lamsam hits a six at long-on to Shaiman Anwar.
  • VICTORY for Hong Kong. Munir Dar takes a single and Hong Kong are 145 for 6 in 18 overs winning by 4 overs. What a batting display by them! Also praises for UAE for their attempt to comeback in the game.
