Day 5: Hong Kong v Kuwait at Tribhuvan University: HONG KONG ON TOP

  • ACC Twenty20 Cup, Hong Kong vs Kuwait at TU Ground: Kuwait won the toss and elected to bat first.
  • SIX, good start for Kuwait as Mohd Asghar starts with a six off Aizaz Khan. Good, clean shot straight into the crowd. Kuwait 17/0 in 1 overs.
  • WICKET, Munir Dar strikes. Idrees goes on a very good catch at cover by Courtney Kruger. Kuwaiti batsmen were going after the bowling, utilizing the powerplay fielding restrictions. Kuwait 28/1 in 2 overs.
  • SIX, DROP & SIX, Mohd Asghar seems to be good touch. Lifts the left-arm spinner Nadeem Ahmed cleanly out of boundary on extra cover region. Then he holes up on, three fielders gather at extra cover, Kruger attempts it - bounces off, attempts again with one hand, bounces again. Asghar reply with another six on the cover. Kuwait 44/1 in 3 overs.
  • WICKET, Munir Das strikes again, Nadeem Ahmed goes on lbw. Saud Qamar joins Asghar, who is at 31 now.
  • Kuwait 49/2 in 4 overs. Munir Das gave away just 5 runs and takes a wicket. Quiet over of the innings so far.
  • Some problem with electricity here. Hong Kong bowlers have restricted the run scoring and has taken another wicket. Saud Qamar goes on an inside edge to stumps. Kuwait 51/3 in 6 overs.
  • WICKET, Roshantha hits straight to mid-off. Irfan Ahmed takes the wicket. Kuwait are now four down at 51 in 7th over.
  • SIX & WICKET, Hong Kong bowlers had really done well in last few overs, giving just 7 runs in four overs, until Mohd Irfan decides to go on the knees and hit one at mid-wicket. Huge one, over the press box. Nizakat Khan comes back well with a quick, turning delivery that went through the defense of Irfan. Kuwait 58/5 in 8th overs, Asghar batting on 34.
  • WICKET, the big one. Asghar is bowled by Irfan Ahmed in the first ball of 9th over. Asghar tries to drive and completely misses the shot. Good bowling, Hong Kong.
  • Kuwait 61/6 in 9 overs.
  • Kuwait is pegged down now. Although the batsmen are taking a few singles, Hong Kong is all over them not allowing them to score. Kuwait 63/6 in 10 overs.
  • SIXS, Adnan Idrees hits pacer Roy Lamsam for two consecutive sixes out of the ground. Big pulls on the square leg region. Nazeer hits Lamsam another on long-off. Crowd roars as they are cheering for Kuwait as their victory will take Nepal to semifinals. Kuwait 84/6 in 11 overs.
  • WICKET, Nizakat Khan bowls Adnan Idrees. Batsman tries to drive to the off side, misses completely and doesn't look back.
  • Kuwait 89/7 in 12 overs as Nazeer swept Nizakat for a four off the last ball.
  • Kuwait 98/7 in 13 overs. Nazeer is batting well at 23.
  • Nizakat Khan gives only one run - very good bowling to the tailenders. Kuwait 99/7 in 14 overs.
  • Irfan Ahmed ends his spell, Kuwait 103/7 in 15 overs. Five more overs to go and the eighth pair are batting well adding 19 runs.
  • SIX, Abdullah Akhunzada hits Nadeem Ahmed straight out of the ground to end 16 overs at 112/7.
  • WICKET, run out, Azmatullah Nazeer goes after scoring 28. Good throw and he could not complete the second run. Kuwait 115/8 in 17 overs.
  • WICKET, Nadeem Ahmed easily holds the ball off his own bowling as Akunzada skies in an attempt for a big shot. Kuwait 121/9 in 18 overs.
  • Aizaz Khan does good job to stop a straight slog, traveling very fast, got a hand to it, could have been a catch too. Kuwait 122/9 in 19 overs, last over to go.
  • No 11 Gedara gets a four off the edge after wicketkeeper fails to collect ball in earlier delivery to stump him out. Kuwait finishes at 130/9 in 20 overs.
  • Good start. Irfan Ahmed hits Gedara for three consecutive fours - two on mid-wicket and one at square leg off a short ball. Hong Kong 12/0 in 1 overs. Target 131.
  • WICKETS, run out and LBW. Babar Hayat is run out as Irfan Ahmed sends him back. Irfan Ahmed is given out lbw, he walks back slowly unable to believe that he is out. HK 17/2 in 2 overs. Target 131.
  • SIXS, Munir Dar lifts Asghar at the mid-wicket region for consecutive sixes. HK 32/2 in 3 overs. Target 131.

  • FOURS, Nazeer comes to bowl and Munir Dar paddle sweeps him for a four and sweeps another for another four. HK 43/2 in 5 overs. Target 131.
  • 50 up for Hong Kong. HK 51/2 in 6 overs. Munir Dar is on 24 and Jamie Atkinson on 13. Target 131.
  • SIX, Munir Dar hits another four, this time to Nazeer. Good inside-out shot at the extracover boundary. Ball drops a few yards outside rope. HK 63/2 in 7 overs. Target 131.
  • SIX, wow what a shot. Munir Dar hits his fourth six - reverse sweep this time to the third-man boundary off Haroon Shahid. Dar is making sixes look so easy. HK 73/2 in 8 overs. Target 131.
  • WICKET, big one. Munir Dar goes in an attempt to hit flat six, caught brilliantly at boundary by running Adnan Idrees. Saud Qamar gives the breakthrough. Nizakat Khan new man in for HK. HK 79/3 in 9 overs. Target 131.
  • Hong Kong have batted really well today despite losing key openers. After 10 overs, they are 86/3. Kuwait is sloppy in field and their bowling has been punished here. They have been asked by the team management to win in 16 overs to ensure better net run rate than Nepal.
  • Hong Kong 99/3 in 11 overs, Atkinson sweeps Qamar for a four on square leg bisecting two deep fielders, who do not bother to run. Target 131.
  • SIX, Yohan Gedara is sliced for six over the gully by Nizakat Khan.
  • WICKET, Nizakat Khan hits straight to extra cover as Gedara picks up his first wicket. HK 109/4 in 12 overs. Target 131.
  • Akunzada bowls a donkey-drop as Atkinson paddle-sweeps for a four. Hong Kong going very well here. 117/4 in 13 overs. Target 131.

  • VICTORY, Hong Kong win here by 6 wickets in 14.5 overs. Very good batting performance led by Munir Dar and Jamie Atkinson. Atkinson remains not out at 41 off 29 balls. Kuwait batted really well despite losing early initiatives but were below-par while bowling and fielding.
