FRUSTRATION AS RAIN WASHES OUT SECOND DAY'S PLAY

Players and officials have been made to wait in frustration as torrential rain washed out play on the second day of the Women's Emerging Asia Cup in Colombo on Thursday.

Frustration as rain washes out second day's play

India were scheduled to play hosts Sri Lanka at R. Premadasa Stadium while Bangladesh were set to play Pakistan at Thurstan Grounds but heavy rains forced umpires to call off play early without a ball being bowled.

Tuesday's opening encounters were also hit by rain. Wednesday's games were pushed back to Thursday with the hope that the inclement weather will clear but relentless rain saw two more games being washed out. All four games in the four nation competition so far have ended in no decision.

Two more games are left to be played on Friday with Pakistan taking on arch-rivals India and Sri Lanka playing Bangladesh ahead of Sunday's final.

Tournament Director Bandula Dissanayake said that the Event Technical Committee will meet later Thursday to arrive at a decision as to what needs to be done.
