SKIPPER VAIDYA'S FOUR WICKETS HELPS INDIA BEAT PAKISTAN

The much anticipated India versus Pakistan clash of the Women's Emerging Asia Cup turned out to be an anti-climax with India cruising to a comfortable seven wicket win with plenty to spare at Navy Headquarters Grounds in Welisara on Sunday. With an unbeaten record in the group stages, India qualified for the finals on Tuesday and will take on hosts Sri Lanka.

India were on the money from the start bowling out Pakistan for 106 runs. Pakistan had opted to bat first having won the toss but their innings never got going as India were disciplined on the field.

Skipper Devika Vaidya, who bowls leg-spin came in as second change and struck early as Pakistan lost half their side with just 53 runs on the board. They never recovered and were bowled out in 46.5 overs with Vaidya finishing with four for 23. Sushree Dibyadarshini captured three wickets.

Opener Tuba Hassan top scored for Pakistan with 32 runs while captain Rameen Shamim contributed with 31 runs.

Wicketkeeper Nuzhat Parween anchored the run chase top scoring with 44 runs off 68 balls with seven fours.

Vaidya finished things off scoring 12 runs not out as India reached home in the 30th over.

India will be formidable opponents in the final possessing an exceptional all-round side. Sri Lanka will be tested in the final and need to raise their game if they were to pose a threat. India already won the group stage game between these team handsomely.
